Well today at my house was lets drop a bulge day yay for me. I have been breeding geckos for quite sometime and have never been wrong in sexing them-ever. I have sold most of my hatchlings from last season with maybe 5 left I am waiting on until the weather warms back up. I invested this year in another 5 or 6 to add to my current breeding groups and they have been growing up like little weeds. A few months ago I went ahead and louped everyone over 10 grams as preanal pores are very evident by this size- I was actually disappointed as no one was showing pores and I needed another male. So this morning as i am misting and checking on everyone I see my cream on cream with a very evident bulge- yay I think this will work. I go on to lola and azriels cage and see two more bulges developing- huh I think these guys are over 20 grams now thats not possible. So I take lola out who is 25 grams for a closer look. I fight and fight until (s)he finally stops nipping and allows me to inspect her preanal region its a bulge. I grab azriel who is a complete spaz and look again another bulge for sure. WTF I think can this be happening? I pull my loupe back out and carefully inspect for pores until my eyes were watering and my head hurt- yes theres pores now too. Now I have several of my own hatchlings so I guess they will stay until I can work out my sex ratios, but seriously how can this be? So then I notice today is Friday the 13th oh the irony!! Looking at gecko butts sucks!

Gender ambiguity can be difficult with any species, even humans. We have several people right here on this forum that can attest to that fact.

Oh God wade how did I know you would find this funny. I could really cry seeing hemipenal bulges all morning so thanks for the bright side!

That's odd. Most women cry when they see a lack of a bulge.

Don't ask me how I know this.

I am glad you all find this funny I almost want to smile except something about 2 males usually doesn't produce offspring..err I had a perfect breeding season lined up possibly my best ever and now I have a bunch nads instead. Cute nads, but all the same this changes everything.

I'm sorry you have too many nads in your colony. Think of the positive maybe you can pick up some more pretty ladies this year. Shopping is always fun, especially for snakes and lizards. :) I hope you figure everything out and breeding goes well for you this season.

Wow..lol...sorry to hear things are going a bit crazy for u today..trust me my day hasn't started out too great either..and wade..lol on your statement.. :)
