I tried doing a forum search on these things, but I didn't really turn up any of the information that I need. It's possible that I just don't know how to search correctly... :eek:

Anyways, we bought a bag of 50 frozen pinkies when we bought our snake last weekend, but I think that they may be a bit to small him. We fed him Tuesday night, and by Wednesday evening you could no longer see the "bump" from the pinky. I've read that you are supposed to see it closer to 48 hours after feeding.

I did read somewhere that once the snake outgrows one pinky, then you feed two pinkies, and THEN move on to fuzzies. Is this correct?

If we are feeding two pinkies per meal, how should I go about this? Do I offer the second pinky right away after he's finished eating the first? Do I wait a few hours? Wait for a day?

Or do I just need to call the bag of pinkies a loss, throw them away, and order fuzzies?

And while I'm asking these questions, how often should I be feeding. I was planning to feed roughly every 5 days. I read in one place that babies should be fed every 3-5 days, and in another place I saw 5-7 days... I figured that 5 days would be a safe compromise. Is this reasonable? Or too frequent? I certainly don't want to power-feed, but I also don't want the little guy going hungry!

Most feed young ones every 5-7 days and I would try 1 and half pinkies before going to two to be safe and not risk a regurge. Do a search here for the Munson plan and you will get a schedule of weights, sizes, and frequency:)

When I gave my girlie 2 pinks I put both in at the same time. She got one down, waited til it was really down in her "belly" then went after the other. Then at the next feed I had access to just dwarf hamster fuzzies! I thought they were too big and was prepared for her to spit it out and have to cut it up for easier feeding but WOW! Took a little longer than mice but she gobbledd it up.

Um I think the lump being visable is supposed to 24 to 48 hours, and they recomend not handling for at least 2 days with many prefering to wait 3. Me I wait for 12 to 24 hours after the lump is gone. No problems for my Rose, but will probably wait a little longer when we get our next snake to give myself time to figure out how it reacts to everything. Each snake is different.
