I know that there are a bunch of folks posting names of those they'd support in the 2012 elections. I also know most of them are posted in jest.
The thing is, we need candidates that will be able to WIN. Let me give you an example...
A few years ago, I lived in California ( I moved because I quit my job and a job opening came up here in AZ where I could work with my brother). During one of the Gubernatorial elections, the choices were Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Cruz Bustamante and Tom McClintock. At the time, it became very apparent that Cruz Bustamante would beat McClintock, but Arnold would have a fair shot at beating Bustamante - which he eventually did. So, on election day, I sat there thinking... I really want to vote for McClintock, but he can't win (really, there was NO WAY it could happen), but there was a ground-swell of support for Arnold which showed him in the lead.
Needless to say, I voted for Arnold... the better (IMO) of the two candidates that COULD win because life for me under Bustamante would have been quite unbearable. Fortunately, Arnold did win although, I must say, he has proven to be pretty iffy as the "Governator", but ANYTHING would have been better than Bustamante.
However, in a 2012 election against an incumbent Obama, I don't think that any of the candidates suggested (jokingly or not) could win. Does anyone really think that MOST of the general population would vote for Nugent? for Hutchinson? KJ

? I feel that unless we come up with qualified candidates, it isn't gonna happen... and 4 more years of tax and spend will need to be SURVIVED.
I know that there are lots of Independents on this forum as well. Who would the Independents put up that most of America would vote for? Republicans? I can't think of any qualified candidates, myself... so where does this leave us? I'm afraid it'll be 4 more years of our current administration.
