    Horse People, I need opinions....

Ok, so for my Honors Thesis to graduate with my bachelors, I am doing a poster of Most Overlooked but Important Horse Expressions. Ok, so that isn't the title, but it will be something akin to that. So here is my question: What, in your opinion, is an expression that horses make that is most...

While I have been away...(horse update)

Well, I haven't been around here in about a month due to work. But now that I have some free time, here are some pics to show what a great time I am having with my new horse Nela! She is a Percheron/Belgian draft cross. Here she is! My friend Sarah was riding her at the time. Me loping...

    Nela my Huge New Horse

So I decided to take the plunge and buy a mare that I have been eye-ing for a year or so now. She was at my old stables and I was always envious of whoever was riding her. She went up for sale this spring and I have been trying her out. I had a day off today and my friend Sarah came out to the...

So I won't be around a whole lot...

...I just started my new job at the Larimer Humane Society. Unfortunately the scheduler decided I needed 39 hours a week, and I have a second job too. So while I may be pulling in some cash, I will be very busy. It is an interesting job but is mostly custodial-type work that involves lots of...

    Tornadoes in Colorado...:(

Windsor, a city two towns away from me, just got hit badly by tornadoes this afternoon. So far there have been three people killed. Fort Collins, where I live, is on Tornado watch. There are dark clouds coming this way. I live on the third floor of an apartment building with no basement...

    Why do YOU love them?

So I finally figured out the exact reasons why I love snakes. I tried to write it out as best as I could with my limited eloquence. I would love to hear anyone else's reasons why they love snakes! I don't mean the laundry list of "1. Don't have to take for a walk 2. Is pretty" but more of a...

Rocky Mountain Reptile Expo..if you don't like tons of pics..not for you!

Ok, so I took over 70 pictures..bear with me for the ones I decided to actually use. The Rocky Mountain Reptile Expo is held in Denver Colorado. It was a lot of fun! I didn't buy anything except for some supplies..although i was sorely tempted! So here the saga of pictures begins:

    Rosy Boas?

Does anyone here have Rosy Boas? If so, how would you describe their temperaments? They seem like very cool snakes but I don't see them around too often, and I wonder why that is? Thanks!:spinner:

Meerah and Deuce outside plus funny pic of me

Today it was finally a nice day (no snow, sleet, hail etc). So I took the two ball pythons outside. I know you guys are probably sick of my pictures, but I only have four snakes to photograph! The ball pythons sure stay still better than the corns. Deuce: late 07 Mojave Meerah: Early...

    update on Meph-300grams

So, my petstore buy Meph, a 2006 male snow, has reached 300gams. I suppose this means he can start courting the ladies? :) Anyways, I took him out today and snapped some pictures. These aren't great and don't represent his color well. But I was amazed at how fast he's grown...

You know you have a problem when...

...you go to the local nursery, and dive under a display bench to try and grab a garter snake! I didn't catch him, but I had to keep myself from flattening my body on the ground to try :) It was pretty big for a garter too, so I suspect it was a female. Oh well..almost got her.....:laugh01:

    Toils and Coils DU NO-NO

An update on Deuce, my 07 "rescue" BP who has gained 134 grams since I got her in January. When I got her she had been fed on coconut husk and had splinters in her mouth. She was also very skinny. When I took her out today to take some pictures I realized my hard work has paid off. No longer...

Rehoming Woes: What is morally vs. financially right?

I am always surprised at how many people can't keep their pets and must find a home for them. There are so many reasons: allergies, no commitment, behavioral issues, moving, different financial situation etc. I also observe quite a few posts relating how disgusted that particular poster is...

    Two-probed thermometers?

Does anyone know of a brand of a two-probed thermometer that can measure a cool side and warm side at once? Preferably I would like a thermometer that reads temperatures correctly.... I just got a temp gun on loan and realized how completely OFF my thermometers are....grrrrr:angry01:

MAJOR thermostat issues, any help appreciated

I have Herpstat that reads error four messages (supposedly because of a probe dysfunction) even after I JUST replaced the probe. I also have a Ranco (brought in last week) to replace the Herpstat, that reads 83 degrees, that it should be at 91 with a 1 degree differential. My thermometers...

    Temp Gun Q.

I am getting so sick of my probed thermometers that seems to vary highly in their readings. I want to burn them at this point. :angry01: I want to get an inexpensive but very accurate temp gun. 1. what are the brand you would recommend? 2. where can I find this brand? Is there anything...

    MY First HORSE Show!

These were some pics my dad took today at my very first horse show on the very first horse I ever trained, Candy (Sugars Mini Bar). She's by Sugar's Oak Bar and out of Easy Pure Pride. She does not belong to me; she was consigned by Purina Mills to CSU for me to train and show and sell. I will...

    Cool little drawing

I did this as a prototype for a children's game involving reducing irrational fears of scary animals. It is for a class. I liked the drawing I did so I figured I'd post it. Nothing fancy, just colored it in in Painter Classic.
