Gamaliel's Principle
ACORN "situation".
Examining all sides/facets/angles....is only fair.
ACORN was the organization alleged to be actively committing voter regisration fraud in Aug/Sep/Oct 2008.

Hey Robbie,.....LOL.....while you were out beating the bricks looking for a legitimate job, you could've been filling out the paperwork for a "little business establishment" in Daytona Beach. :roflmao:

Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now

They fail to define what, specifically, they mean by "Reform", on their website Mission Statement. Duh...

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) aims to organize a majority consituency of low- to moderate-income people across the United States. The members of ACORN take on issues of relevance to their communities, whether those issues are discrimination, affordable housing, a quality education, or better public services. ACORN believes that low- to moderate-income people are the best advocates for their communities, and so ACORN's low- to moderate-income members act as leaders, spokespeople, and decision-makers within the organization.

Thanks for noticing my poor pathetic little thread, Dave.

So much gold, frankincense, and myrrh is raining down in Washington (and Baltimore)......that I thought at least we could spread the wealth around and open up some reasonable-rate neighborhood "social clubs". Red velvetine wallpaper, peacock feathers, whalebone corsets, harlots....the whole nine yards.

Hmmm... I think Tony can make an outfit with that theme in mind...

If Tony can make an outfit out of that trainwreck of metaphors....he is indeed as much of a genius as I already think he is.

I thought red velveteen went out with the 50's. Or was that the Deco Era?
As far as Daytona goes, I'd like to develop a few houses in residential neighborhoods into manufacturing facilities to produce a much sought after substance, and then buy up a newspaper business, and then get on the county council. I want the same things every American wants: uncontrollable power, unlimited personal wealth potential, and control of the press. Vote for me. It makes perfect sense, as it's worked a thousand times before. Vicariously, dp
ps, I'll need to borrow Tony. A LOT.

You are an innocent :)

Seriously?

Bush's fault......

I'm SO happy these are the ones our dear leader has decided will help out with the upcoming census. Yeah...........

Is that from Heinlein or does that saying have meanings outside of his writings that I am currently not aware about?

Aww, c'mon KJ...if they can register Paul Newman, James Taylor, and the Dallas Cowboys starting line-up to vote, they ought to be able to move mountains in a census. ;)

I found this rather 'comprehensive' reference (non-FOX) on ACORN just this morning :
http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/the-complete-guide-to-acorn-voter-fraud/

That old proverb refers to...fixing it now when a small fix will do, versus putting it off which will require a bigger fix later.

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:And they accomplished this with only $53 million in funding. I can't wait to see what they can do with $8 billion. They should be able to register most of Europe and Canada to vote in 2012. And expand the red-light district in Amsterdam to cover most of North America utilizing all the housing now in default! :grin01:

Thank God Tara and I are working hard so those folks can have health care, electric assistance and free housing via Section 8 programs..... that frees them up to create enterprising free lance organizations like ACORN.

Silly me,...as I am wont to do from time to time...I am being too subtle. Here I am trying to serve KJ the hard-left-wing radical 'movement' on a silver platter....but, alas, with too few dots...
And even defend Obama...somewhat, (i.e., on my terms...i.e., after a fashion).
Here are some more dots :
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=1773

This 1969/1970 Rathke, ACORN business is where my sluggish, haphazard, dreamy, research led me, last fall (not precisely the same article as above, but the above site is even better,....or worse), in looking for the why's and wherefore's of the election still going on at that time. In trying to find acceptance and understanding while watching my personal model/explanation of "'pendulum theory' political dynamics" in action.
ACORN is what I believe is one of many indicators, stewing, brewing, and simmering for some time. A fortuitous product of the period 1876-1965 that I've referred to before as the 'Jim Crow Years'. A product of institutionalized subjugation of blacks and rebound institutionalized white guilt. Misty, ethereal, amorphous, nebulous...but there.
The momentum, the movement, the voters were already in place...before we ever heard the name 'Obama'...to elect him. The setting, the mounting, was already waiting for the right gem to come along to complete the ring.

Sometimes I find myself unable to place myself solidly, accurately...in relation to events that I can't control or that don't interest me enough to try.
But inevitably, sometimes there is no right or wrong, good or bad, better or worse. Somethings just...must...be...

And don't construe that I am arguing with you, KJ, or anyone else for that matter. I think we are all sitting side by side, in the same cinema-plex, watching the same movie. Whether we like this movie or not : irrelevant. Metaphorically speaking. :D ;)
