Trying out a new (to me) macro lens

I picked up this old manual focus macro lens for $22, so I was playing with it tonight. Thought I'd share!

This first one is kinda dark, but it shows that it can take pretty sharp pictures. The subject wasn't cooperating, so I didn't push him.

The rest, I believe I got ok on the lighting (and a much more willing model)...

Wow, $22?! What a steal! When I take photos of snakes in macro I just try to get as many as possible.. you never know when that shot you thought was going to turn out AMAZING is actaully a shot of the snake's neck in focus instead of the head! I've been "saved" a few times with this method. Looks like you're doing a great job already though!!
And of course you have BEAUTIFUL subject matter. :3

Your skills are quite evident...it is definitely not just the lens. You can come over and take pics of my snake anytime.
