Where to get less expensive Thermometers?

Toddsnake

Serious Corn Addiction!
Petco wants $7.99 for reptile tank thermometer. Any good source for the same type any cheaper...I got a lot of new 10 gallon tanks that need them.
Don't like the adhesive strip type that has the different color band across it.

Thanks for any info!

Todd;)

Walmart/Lowes/Home Depot. A thermometer there wil cost you about 10-12$ but it is digital, and has a probe so you can place the probe at the warm end of the tank and the thermometer at the cool end of the tank.

At Walmart they are in the bathroom/scale section and at Lowes/Home Depot they are in the garden section.

eBay. Look under aquarium supplies. I got about a zillion of them shipped from China for about $2 each.

I took an old Radio Shack indoor/outdoor one with a hygrometer, took the senors off the circuit board and reattached them with the original outdoor wire cut in thirds. Originally it probably cost around twenty bucks but it's also over ten years old. Gave me a headache working with such tiny components but it works.

If 8 bucks is more than you want to spend and adhesives are out, I'd just get regular mercury thermometers. I retail them for fish tanks for under 3 bucks, I'd imagine that's the pet shop standard. They go to 110 degrees and are fairly accurate.

Hmm, I paid $8 for the one I have now and am looking at a better one that costs about $14 to get when I get m next tax return. I am also looking at putting in a better control for my heat, I expect I will pay at least $20 for that. Or I might go a better route and get a really good rack lol. Snakes cost, sorry man.
