Patternless bellies

I have a pair of lavenders that I purchased from Serpenco a couple of years ago. Because I wanted to start a few other projects before producing lavenders, this is the first year I have bred them together. The babies I got are all nice looking animals but they have patternless bellies. The parents both have patterns and the babies are not obviously motley (one does have a nice motley pattern for about 1/4 of his body). Can anyone help me out with what I have? Thanks.

Yup, lots of different backgrounds can cause clear bellies. Do all of them have clear bellies? In my collection I see patternless bellies come from Milksnake Phase, Banded, Upper Keys, and Bloodred lineage.
This year when breeding some F1's from my Upper Keys/Hypo Miami project, out popped out some ghosts. I talked with Don and he said he has had a couple of these pop up in his Hypo Miami line, and still is not sure quite what they are. They also have some weird bellies.

Wow Carol that is very interesting. I can't wait to start working with this line in a couple of year. Just out of curiosity does the little girl I am getting from that clutch have a normal belly? I have emailed you a couple of times but have not heard back. I have been having some trouble with my e-mail so if you have not got them please PM me on the forum.

I just checked, looks like yours has belly checks, but who knows what she'll produce since both the grandparents have checkers. They have less than normal, but do have them. Both F1 parents of this clutch have minimal checks, but still more than thier offspring. And of course some have almost patternless like above, some have reduced checkering and some have normal. I really don't have it figured out yet, but it is interesting. :confused: Sorry I missed your emails!

What awesome looking babies~

I bred a silver queen to my upper keys this year~ and I also bred an amel to one of the upper keys and finally a bloodred with an upper key~

So right now I have 4 clutches of upper keys incubating...
1) upper x upper
2) bloodred x upper
3) silver queen x upper
4) amel x upper~

Hope that some of them will end up nearly as nice as the ones that you have~~

I'll try the pictures this way instead. All the ones that hatched had patternless bellies. I had some problems with my incubator so I didn't end up with as many as I thought I was going to this year.

That sure looks like a Milksnake phase Motley to me. If it is, it is highly unpredictable.

They are beauties!
 
How many hatchlings hatched?
Simon, I'd love to know the results of all your test pairings when they hatch. I'd love to do all those crosses but I don't have as much "snake power" as you. LOL. The only thing that is missing is Milk Mot X Upper Keys. ;)
 
Hatchlings

Unfortunately, the incubator trouble claimed most of the clutch. I had 4 hatch with these two being the healthiest by far. The third has a large kink and the fourth left the egg before absorbing the yolk and has yet to shed after three weeks. I don't know how either of those two are going to do. So, this pair is all that I can count on and I'm trying to decide if I should sell them.
