Hello everyone,

I'd like to ask your assistance in helping a fellow reptile enthusiast who lost the majority of his collection as well as his home to Hurricane Charley this past summer.

Some of you may know Stephen Roylance. You may have purchased corns from him in the past. The Roylances are in need of the herp communities help.

Please follow this link to read Stephens story and view the donation/auction forum that's been started to benefit him and his family.

Thank you very much,

It's often wise to find out who you are talking about before opening your mouth. :puke02:

Sherry, that comment was totally uncalled for! Stephen Roylance and many others suffered greatly because of the hurricanes in Florida last year. I think your comment was very heartless and unsympathetic.

You should learn to be considerate of other people's feelings!

Me thinks that this thread might get ugly.

I wonder, though, as a big breeder with expensive morphs---can you insure your snakes?

I'm sure not everyone who has corns knows who the big players are, like Stephen Roylance, Kathy Love, Rich Z, etc. There have been enough liars and losers who have posted about losing their collections and are wanting free snakes that I think many of us are leery of such claims. In this case, I'm quite certain it's on the up and up. I've been to Stephen's site and I am aware of what's happened. It's best to do the research before posting at all.

I was wondering if his home owners insurance would have covered some of the loses beyond the house damage it's self. I insure my house beyond the value of the structure.
Whatever the case , you can't just go out and replace years of breeding projects. I feel for him.

I agee with Terri! Wow, I can't believe what I just read! That was totally uncalled for.

I don't know how things are in Florida, but I was told (where I live) that if you have reptiles in the house it is hard to get house insurance. Now, I do not know how true this is seeing as I don't own a house yet. I will be checking into it before long, though.

The biggest problem with homeowners insurance in Florida, Is that most people do not carry flood insurance(which is seperate). So when the adjustor comes to assess Hurricane damage, anything damaged by water intrusion would be covered by flood insurance and not homeowners. So you end up getting your roof fixed, if it was blown off, but the interior damage caused by the rains from having no roof..........well you are SOL. That's how I see it. In my case, I have some roof damage that is bad, but not bad enough to get a new roof. High deductible. I don't know about animal/reptile coverage, as I bought the house before I got into snakes again.

Thanks for the support guys and gals. I'm a hurricane victim as well, luckily all we lost was our home for several months while it's being repaired. I feel extremely luck that my family and animals were spared. Believe me it has not been easy for most of the here in the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area. Again your support is greatly appreciated.

Terri, I can't see how that would be legal, if your collection is legal.

I would think that a seperate business rider on your home policy should be available.

We have some new donations up for auction that should be especially appealing to Corn Snake fanciers...please check it out :)

Thanks!!

Paypal's easy. Just sign up for an account and the funds can come either from a designated credit card or directly from your bank account. It's the best thing if you ever hit Ebay.

Well guys, I'm starting the bids off on the corns. It's a good cause (and if I would happen to end up with them, they will be donated as prizes for the newsletter). Stephen Roylance is a good guy, I felt awful for him when he heard about his house while at Daytona. I can't imagine how awful a feeling that has to be, all that work lost, your house destroyed.

It's a good cause, people. Shipping is included on the auctions and one auction isn't even over shipping charges yet. We can do better than this. A pair of caramel motleys (poss het butter)? A normal het lavender? Yeah, we can do better. :D

The Caramel Motley (poss het butter) Auction

The Normal (het lavender) Auction

Well I had a bit of a “situation” with :twoguns: paypal (as a seller) and I refuse to use them.
All the snakes look great and are a great deal, now if they would only take a money order.
