ShugaBoog, my runaway '06 lavender...then & now

Cegninedorf

Twang'em into trees!
ShugaBoog came to me at the end of June 2007...I knew that he was an '06 lavender hatchling and had been a runaway for a reported THREE months, but I really didn't expect him to come to me *so* tiny! However, he's been a complete sweetheart -- thus his name: sugar for being so sweet, booger for being such a cute lil'thang! So, with a southern accent now, y'all: ShugaBoog. :)

It's unknown what hets he may have. All I *do* know is that as he sheds & grows, he's getting "pinkier", and he does have blue eyes with red pupils. I'd like to try breeding him someday just to see *what* happens...!

Then...26 June 2007, weighing in at a whoppin' feisty 9 grams:

Late July, being a sweet lil'boog, and weighing 12 g:

In September, finally upping the ante & weighing 32 g:

And, now...6 mos later, *and freshly shed as of this morning!*, after covering him for every feeding and eventually washing all of his prey, ShugaBoog is a ripe 100 g! (He weighs the same now as my July 07 hatchling, Schnee!) I'm thrilled with the progress that he's made...no regurges, no problems with shedding, and stayed a sweetheart every step of the way. He's a survivor, all right. :)

Finally, here's Mr Boog having a moment with my alpha male cat, Strasti...

Thanks!

Wow, I didn't realize you had so many pretty snakes! I remember you when you were just here looking for a classroom pet! ;)

Oh, I know... Isn't it terrible? I spent a lot of personal money to get that project off of the ground -- and then I started to find & write & submit grants for other classroom projects...which have more or less been funded, but Fritz is still all my own expense -- which I have come to adore so much that it's like having the chicken pox: I just can't resist a little scratch -- or a new cute corn! -- here & there...:spinner: I'm incredibly grateful to Terri/CornCrazy for all of her help with Fritz...without her, so many of my students & colleagues wouldn't know about how wonderful snakes are. :) But then... Wouldn't you know it? I found good deals & beautiful snakes here & there...and lucky me. :dancer: It's been a fantastic, educational year & a half since getting started here & first meeting Fritz. And I'm incredibly thankful for all of it.

Thank you! :wavey:

When I joined this site there were plenty of morphs I didn't like so much, including lavender, but then everyone posted these awesome pictured, and I love them all (and one of each)!

Great pictures! Shuga is wonderful! I can't quite figure out what the cat in the last picture is thinking though.

I'm not big on Lavenders, but he sure is turning into one purdy boy :)

Mr Boog & I thank you...;) I didn't think that I was big on lavenders, either...I didn't see a photo of him prior to picking him up, so I had no idea how cute he'd be. Imagine my surprise. ;)

Shuga is a doll...such a sweetheart. :) It was so funny when I was taking Shug's photos...Strasti happened to be camped out on the bed, as per usual, looking like a beached whale, and when he saw Shuga wiggling around, naturally -- he got curious. But, as Strasti has become used to my "other" pets (he baby-sits my bearded dragon, Jolie, when she's running around...;) ), and as I've raised Strasti since he was 6 weeks old, Strasti knows his boundaries...:) (I swear, Strasti is my soulmate in the form of a feline!) It's hard to tell what he's thinking in the photo because as he's all black, he kind of blends in the with background...so, with his curiosity aroused & always being interested in what I'm doing, Strasti parked himself right on the edge of the towel that I'd put on my bed -- and I wasn't worried at all about him doing anything. If anything at all, Strasti was most likely thinking, "Now what on earth is that? What a novel looking toy! I wonder if -- when Mumma is done with it -- I will get to have it...!" (And, say all of this in the voice of Stewie from The Family Guy, and you'll have Strasti's sentiments exactly...:p ) Strasti is a fantastic cat whom I adore...:)

Thank you for looking!
