A little addicted...

Nukes from Orbit
A friend of mine introduced me to this forum about a week ago and since browsing it I have found a TON of useful information. I have always been interested in snakes...but I always saw them in a pet store and refused to pay as much as they were usually asking. So I'd always wrote it off as something I REALLY wanted, but couldn't easily afford at any given time ($700 snake hatchling.....or pay rent...). Then, I got to see Em's snakes....

I did a lot of searching here and on some other boards before finding a local breeder (Frank Pantinella), who was just awesome! He was so patient with us (my roommate and I) and answered all of our questions and concerns (usually many times over in the 3.5 hours we were there) until we were very sure of what snake we wanted. Our intentions had been to buy 2 baby king snakes (that is what I was prepared to bring home, habitat-wise)....what we ended up with is three gorgeous corn snakes who completely sold themselves to us by their behaviors and persistence. We are very, very happy with them.

So I thought that maybe I should make myself familiar on the boards here...!
Everyone on the forums seems incredibly educated about snakes and patient enough to answer questions -- and I'm still a newbie despite all the research I've done. Having a good community of fellow snake lovers is great and helpful. =)

I don't know what she is, Frank told me....but it was one of the many snakes I'd been playing with and I've since forgotten. I believe she is an Ultramel. She is bright tangerine-orange and deep red-brown with a white (black speckled) underbelly. She's a baby though, so I hear that can all change. I picked her especially for her markings. She's so pretty!

Sorry about the long post! :D

Nah, long posts are fine.. Welcome aboard and post some pictures of your snakes. we would love to see them.

Welcome to the forums!

It's a good thing you've already admitted to being addicted- it only gets worse!! :)

Here are some thumbnails -- I don't use Photobucket's thumbnail options...so I'm not sure if it will allow the pictures to expand at all. Feh. =) The images were taken with my cell (it would work better, I bet, if I didn't drop it so often...) so they're a little washed out and fuzzy.

I guess the worst (best) part of it all is that there is a Reptile Convention next week...I certainly can't rely on Em or my roommate to be the "voice of reason" when it comes to snakes, either. We're doomed. =)

Cute snakes! Welcome to the boards! I like the little coconut shell.

Did you get another habitat for them? You mentioned you were going to get two king snakes and had houses for them, so when you got three cornsnakes did you get another tub? I remember when I bought my first snakes from a show, I came home with twice as many as I'd planned, and had to run out to target to buy another bin!

Nice snakes indeed.

Sarah, I did the same thing as well lol. I went to a local breeder and planned to pick up one hatchling and came back with two. Stopped at target on the way home :)

I had actually bought 2 small bins.... but thankfully had some big plastic bins from moving that worked perfect to the other two. ;)

I was over there this last weekend and she has her babies set up quite nicely. I promised that I'd bring my camera so she could get some better shots of them, too. :D
