Introducing Adelaide: 2008 Amel

Nanci

Alien Lover
Adelaide is my first Amel. She came from John Finsterwald (Zorro) as a mail-order bride for my gorgeous opal blood, Dingo. However, she is the offspring of Stephen Wagner's Cherry Line project snakes. Her parents are an opal and a fire. This makes her het opal blood, and bred to The Dingo, she should produce a nice mixed clutch of 25% each amels het opal blood, fires het opal, opals het bloodred AND opal bloods.

Adelaide is VERY blue (pink!) right now! I can't wait to see how she sheds out.

Adelaide weighed in at 77 grams. A nice size for a 2008, halfway between El Wray and Mango. She went into the rack.

When I unpacked Adelaide at FedEx, she was in a bag. The FedEx lady got to meet her first up-close snake without a deli cup lid to protect her! She had lots of questions like "When she does that, does that mean she is mad?" (Coils up). No, that's just how snakes sit. "Aren't you afraid she is going to bite you?" No, if she was going to, she would have already. "Aren't you afraid of getting bitten?" No, it doesn't hurt!! "Does she like it in the bag?" Yes, it's dark and she feels safe. "Well, I am not really into snakes, but she is very pretty!!" I'm going to get you into snakes! You like all _mine!!!_ "That's true!"

Adelaide is a sweetheart. If I was a beginner and she was my first snake, I would be thrilled! She is curious, gentle, and seems to like people! She wants to climb up around my neck. If I set her in a plant to climb, she wants to come back to me.

I think this is my favorite picture of her. There probably won't be many more water lily blooms this season! This is Mrs. George, a night-bloomer.

I really had to scrounge to get furnishings for Adelaide's new viv. As I keep telling John, I am out of room! I can't buy any more snakes for the rest of my life! And then he comes up with amazing genes, gorgeous snakes that are too good to pass up and there go all my good intentions...I am just lucky I had one vacant slot in the rack and that she's big enough to stay put in there!

Thank you, John, she's beautiful!!! We should see some very nice babies out of the pair in a couple years.

Well you're just about to have two free slots, right? :noevil:

She's a pretty one, and that clutch is going to be loads of fun! I'm very picky about amels, and I love her! Congrats!

Beautiful, Nanci. She's gonna be blinding after a shed. I want on the list for one each of the 25% projected offspring. :D
Oh, and beautiful name by the way. ;)

Very nice Nanci! So, that's your new SSS. :) I'm suprised you didn't have any Amel's, but her and your Opal blood will make some nice little Babies!

Thanks you guys! I am having a hard time resisting getting her back out. She's been out exploring her viv all afternoon. Since she isn't a little baby, I think I will just feed her with her group Friday, depending on if she sheds between now and then. Otherwise, she can catch up with them Wednesday, which will have given her a whole week to settle in.
