Hello all. My name is Derrick. I am not new to snakes,but new to corn snakes. I have a 5 yr old female red tail boa. I just bought my 1st corn yesterday after lurking around this site for about 2 weeks. I have not taken any pics yet. It is a male Amel albino. Funny thing;I read a lot on here how they like to escape. He somehow escaped last night. My wife and I searched and searched. Ended up tearing up a whole room. Finally,we gave up. We went to sleep and figured we would search again today. My wife woke up around 3am saying she couldn't sleep because she was worried about him. She began her search again. She screamed out,"I FOUND HIM"!!! I jumped out of bed. He was hiding in my wife;s sewing machine. He was cold. So,we stayed up with him for about a hour warming him. He started moving around fine again. So,we put him back in his tank,made sure he couldn't get out again,and went back to sleep. Everything has been fine with him today. He's due to eat today,so I will get him a pinky in a little while. I'll post updates each week of him. Again,hello to all. Pics soon...

Howdy and welcome to the wonderful world of corn snakes!

Glad to hear that you found your new baby. I would suggest waiting a few days because a) he's in a new environment and needs to acclimate and b) he just had a stressful time since he escaped! He'll be okay to go several more days without food, so don't worry about that. :}

Hi there, glad you finally spoke up :D happy to have you on the site. Pics as soon as you can please :D I currently have one that's lost, I know he's not in my sewing machine tho lol

Hey new guy! :wavey: Welcome to the forum.

Yes, be careful what you use for a lid with these guys. They are magnificent escape artists. Make sure you figure out how he got out and fix that, because he will go right back to that spot and get out again. They seem to never forget the escape spot. I bet that you will see him going for that spot often, after you fix it.

Good luck and if you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask. Also, pics, we love them!

Yes,I did fix it. I had to put 2 more clamps on his lid. But,maybe sometime during the summer I will build him a custom tank as I did with my other snake.
