Snake has a new home (sort of)

So when I got my snake on Tuesday the person I got him from (thanks craigslist) included the viv with him. But when I picked him up I saw that she had been keeping him on sand with only one hide and a bitty little water dish. Since he is just starting his shed the first thing I did was make a quickie humid hide and pop it in there. It took him a day to find it but once he did he settled right down.

So now that I’ve had an afternoon off I cold work on his viv I made him a feeding box and took the tank out and washed it and every thing in it, and got him another hide and a new water dish and gave him some comfy new aspen. I’m just waiting to for the heat mat to come up to temp so I can see how hot it is (using a probe thermometer) before putting him in there.

Hopefully he’ll shed soon so I can put up some pics of him in his new skin.

So are you using that light for heat until the UTH arrives? Do you already have the thermometer with probe? What are your temps?

Nice snake, good find on Craigslist!

Poor guy. I'm glad the seller sold him! I'm sure he'll be much happier and healthier with you.

I think he's an Amelanistic I'll know better after he sheds.

Lamp was just for light for the picture. He has a uth heater and i added a dimmer switch to it. right now he's curled up in his coconut on the warm side which is a comfy 85.7 degrees. I have a probe thermometer I got at petsmart.

He sure looks like some kind of amel. I am so glad you rescued him from living on sand with no viv furnishings to speak of! Sounds like you have his environment pretty well dialed in, too!

We've come across several like that on craigslist. I just wish we had the room and resources to rescue all of them. Not enough poeple doing any research on the snake they are buying kinda p****s me off.

Congrats on the save and the nice new snake, glad to see it has gone to a much better home!!! Can't wait to see post shed pics!
