JCP: Spring Photoshoot

Hello everyone,

Another gorgeous spring day in NH, and another reason to take some photos. This is my 07 male Jungle Carpet Python. He's an extremely well tempered snake, and my brother had a lot of fun photographing him. Here he is...

Thanks for looking :D!

What a great snake Mike. I used to have some JCP, you make me want them again. Great snake.

Thanks, Wade! I've always wanted a GTP, but the JCP seemed like a better alternative for myself. I love their appearance, and personality wise, at least with this guy, I couldn't be happier.

I have GTP now and love them, but the JCP was special in a different way. They are great snakes. I think I will have them again.

How big do these beauties get? I'm looking at GTP's and ATB's for my next snake. And in general how are their temperments? I know the ATB's are more "flighty", but how about these guys?

He's gorgeous. I've held a few at reptile shows. If my fiance wasn't with me i would probably have one. :)

JCP are probably more calm than GTP or ATB. JCP get bigger. None of my JCP ever bit me. My GTP and ATB bite me every chance they get. Almost every day. I love all three.

That's a beautiful snake Mike..... And the pics of it against the yellow, stunning.....

They average about 6ft but some can get to 8ft or so... They can be nippy when young, but there again so are corns, just these have bigger teeth... LOL
They are very easy to take care of and make great display snakes that you can play with.... Though saying that, we have GTP that are handleable...

Thanks Wade :) I'll look more into them, It's going to be a while before I can make room for another reptile of any type anyway :grin01:

Thank you too :) Are they more arboreal like GTP/ATB's? Or more like corns in the fact they like to lay low?

Thanks, Emily! From what I've read, they average anywhere between 4-6ft. Males are slightly smaller. Temperament wise, they seem to generally be a fairly even tempered snake. I have both a male and female. The female gets a little edgy around meal time, so, although I wouldn't consider her aggressive (overall), she's not the easiest going snake in the world. However, this boy has an absolutely solid personality. I've never been bitten, struck, or other by him, and he's just a wonderful snake to have. Like most other snakes, I'm sure that you can easily find one with a wonderful temperament.

Thanks, Mike! My brother was the photographer, but he had a great idea with the yellow backdrop.

Thanks everyone! I'll do my research then let you know what I decide. :D

/thread jack :grin01:
No worries about the thread jack, it's how you learn. I'm glad that some of the more experienced people were able to help you out.

Thanks to everyone for sharing the info and compliments :D!!!

I think the forsythia bush was the perfect setting for him. Looks fantastic!
Thank you very much! And an added thanks about the spelling of the Forsythia bush backdrop. I was going to try and state what type of bush it was, but didn't want to look silly trying to spell it. Hey, now I know :D!

Sweet snake Micheal!! And tell your brother he is good behind the len!
Thanks, PJ. I'll certainly tell him, and I'm sure that he'll be flattered by the compliment :)!
