Just aquired my first snake!

My name is Tanya and after much research I just received my first snake, a motley sunglow, this morning from South Mountain Reptiles. He is gorgeous and it was love at first sight... well, on my end. He's healthy and began to explore his new home within twenty minutes or so. It is funny to watch his head pop up here and there from his bedding when his tail is somewhere else entirely. I'll get some pictures soon. I'm just so excited I could almost giggle. Almost. I have a reputation to keep up, after all.

Hi Tanya! Welcome to your new addiction. We love pictures, so post some when you can. SMR has great snakes, so that was a good choice.

Welcome to the forum! You made a great decision by ordering from SMR! You can never go wrong with Don. :)
I can't wait to see pictures!

Welcome aboard! We are glad to have you and I am sure you will find a wealth of info and support here! Can't wait for pics...and be prepared, it is definitely an addiction..both CS.com and snakes!

I can easily see how corn snakes could be addictive. At the moment I'm limited by space, and by the rules of the house that I have ONE SNAKE ONLY. And yes, when it is said, you can hear the capital letters ;)

After much consideration I have decided to name him Jubal Early. If you're a Firefly fan, you'll recognize the name. If you study the civil war you might also know the name, but for me it's Firefly related as I'm a Browncoat through and through. My dog is named River.

I have a question, I'll ask it here since I'm on a roll, but if I should ask it in another area just let me know. Do snakes have any sensitivity to metals? Jewelry, for instance (mine is either sterling, white gold, or stainless steel). Just curious.

I can't find my good camera so these aren't the best, but better than no pics!

that is a pretty snake. good luck to you!

p.s. is he spending all his time in his dish? if so that may mean his cage is too hot. just a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up on that, I need all the advice I can get. In this case, I had just put him back in his viv and that's where he landed. He soaked for about 30 minutes then wandered back to the warm side. That's the only time I've actually seen him in or near his dish. The warm side hasn't been warmer than 86 degrees and no lower than 81. His cool side stays in the low 70's. I've been completely anal about checking this stuff, but I'm loving it.
One more pic and my rambling is done:
