05 Ultramel (dead on arrival)

check out this guy. I think this the only one who is DIE(dead in egg) as I like to call them. I can see some other Ultramels pipping. The father I guess I can now say for sure is a Gold dust Motley and the mother of this clutch is an amel bloodred. Does anyone care to take a gander at what the babies should be cause Im damned if I know, LOL Thanks.

The kids should be ultramels and amels. (If dad's an ultra caramel motley instead, you won't get any amels.)

I know its a little too soon and I jumped the gun but I think I see some normal heads popping out as well. Whats up with that unless they are ultramels. Thanks Serp.

If Dads an UltraCaramel, you should get all Ultramels, am I right? But - Normals?!?!?

And sorry for the question - Golddust == UltramelCaramel?!?!?

There shouldn't be any normals. (Is sperm retention a possibility in this case?) Definitely let us know if you do get normals, because the clutch should only contain ultramels and amels (and if the male's an ultra/ultra, only ultramels.)

And yeah, Golddust is used for ultramel caramel. :)

OMG, I did really get that wrong. I thought that was the equal trivial name for Amber with Ultra instead of HypoA.... ohoh...will correct that in the lexikon....quick :sidestep:

will this help Serp?

I thought it was a "normal" head but now that its out of the egg, it seems as though its actually an ultramel and the other one is an amel. What do you think Serp? Thanks

Yeah, looks like it could be an ultramel. I was wondering how long it would take before we got dark ultramels like that, LOL. It'll be fun trying to separate those from ultra/ultras, eh?

It's pretty whatever it is. I love the look of the normal hatchlings that come out of some bloodred lines. Are the pupils ruby at all, or totally black?

Given the variability (and that it won't always be possible to identify ultra from ultramel) I bet some ultra caramels will be labeled as golddusts just because it's the closest guess anyone can come up with. ;) (I'd prefer that scenario to everyone using "ultra amber" anyway, hehe.)

GoldDusk Motley's!!

Mike,
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad that Gideon Hodulick and myself were able to get the whole Ultra group back from you!!! Now I REALLY Know what we have here! This is SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
