12qt Sterlite boxes

Hi-

Yet another question. In a rack system where you don't use the lids, can a baby escape from the indentation from the handles on the 12 qt sterlite boxes when the top is flush against the next shelf? I'm looking at that and really wondering. If so, any suggestions? Thanks

Laura - I don't have one of those handy, but I'd say that if the gap is 1/8 inch or more, then yes, they can escape. I wouldn't be comfortable with anything over 1/16 till they pack on some grams.

It's a real small opening, I'm just not sure. I'll see if I can measure it. I just don't want to tape something there as the snake might get stuck on the tape. Right now I have them in those boxes but with books on the top becasue they can easily get out along the top sides. I want to move them to the rack, but I'm worried.

I have to look at the ones I'm using at home for my babies. I think they're 12q, but there's no indentation (it's the snap lid kinds, not the latching ones). I'm just using the lids with clamps on the sides until they grow a bit more and I move them to the gigantic 90qt sterilite bins I build my rack to hold.

Yes, I have the snap lids. With the lids off on the rack there is a small space at the handle site. Once they gain a little more weight it won't matter as much, but I think that space could be big enough for them to escape through. I guess they'll have to stay in the boxes with the lids for now.
