1st Feed ?

We got our corn last Thursday. It was used to being fed on Wednesdays, but I was told to wait a few more days until it was settled. We will be feeding a pinkie today. I have a plastic shoebox with holes to feed in. How will I get the snake back in the cage after it eats without disturbing him.

I was told it was better to feed in a separate container to avoid territorial behavior.

you can lift the shoebox into the cage you keep it in and gently "dump" it back in or lay it sideways so it can crawl out...or you can lift your corn out, too...the few times i fed in a seperate "feed box" i would wait at least an hour or so after the corn has eaten and gently replaced it in it's cage...

I very gently lift the snake once the mouse has hit it's detination, and very gently place it back in the viv, or if i'm feeding my young corns i will plase the feed box on an angle next to the viv, and just use my hand to gently guide them into their viv.

Wow! I barely got the snake into the box before it downed the pinkie! Then it looked like it was searching for more! The little guy was hungry.

don't confuse hunger with greed!
A hatchling will always look for more food as they are very greedy to the degree they may eat 3-4 pinkies and then regurge the lot a few hours after. If it's big enough 15 inches or bigger then yeah 2 pinkies should be ok but if its smaller then this i wouldn't feed any more then 1.

Glad he ate ok for you though, and yeah it is a good sight when that first meal goes down.

WELL DONE

Happy New Year!

true WhiteLips i should have pointed that out as well, but generally hatchlings are greedier then adults. I think so anyway.
