2 husbandry questions!

Carinata

Ever Evolving Exotics
I have two simple questions.
How can keep the warm side of my tank warm and keep the cool side cool. The warm side has a UTH and Lamp it stays 82 at the hotest. The cool side sometimes gets liek 79 and I want to drop it to about 75.

Also should the humid hide go on the cool side or hot side?

Thanks

keeping the col side cool is the hardest thing to do, in my opinion.
There is nothing used to regulated it. Usually the cool side is whatever the house temperature is. All you can to is to move the setup to a cooler location.

As far a humid go, I don't use them but I would think on the warm side.

Basic question????

Why??

Are you using a thermostat with both the lamp and the UTH? If not, then I suspect it's hotter than you think at the warm end, which is why the cool end is staying slightly warmer than you expect. In fairness, the occasional peak at 79 degrees isn't the end of the world, as long as it's normally lower than that.

What sort of thermometer are you using to measure the temperature at the warm end, and where in the tank are you taking the temperature reading?

As for the humid hide, if it's needed I put mine at the cool end as that's where my Corns spend most of their time. Watch where yours stay and put it there. I don't like forcing them to spend time in the warm zone if they usually only stay there for short periods of time when digesting. Having said that, I only ever use a humid hide if one of mine had a previously bad shed.

I don't know what size tank/viv your using is. I am suspecting the problem is that you are using both a UTH and Lamp. Do you really need both? That lamp is going to create a lot of ambient heat, on it's own and if it's a small tank, you will never get that cool side to cool down.

Also, the lamp will dry up any moisture in tank, fairly quickly.
