3 weeks with no food

Its been a week n it hasnt eaten, i tried all the methods by the book, the methods ive been told to do here n nothing worked, the snake is not interested in food.
I called the pet store n they said the snake might be 2 months old, n before i bought it they had it for 2 weeks n it didnt eat.
SO it makes it 3 weeks with no food, dont know how long it could still go n what alternative i still have.
NB: pet store doesnt have live pinkies, n dont know where they sell those.

If you've tried the dozens of methods from the book and from this site in a single week, then the poor snake must feel terrorized. Leave him alone in a no-traffic location, and in a cozy-sized container for four or five days before you try again. After the waiting period is over, place a tiny pinky just outside his hide at sunset. Leave it all night, and do not peek. You may want to clean the pink with soap and water, rinse it well, then scrape a bit of its head skin off before placement.

Sometimes giving them a sense of security can be better than all the pinky tricks. Good luck!

^^^ good advice.

I'd also question what a petstore was doing selling you a non-feeder. Not especially good practice.

If they are selling a known non-feeder they should have:

a) Informed you of this.
b) made sure you knew the implications.
c) priced it accordingly.

Chances are, it will take food eventually (most do .... but not all) but it's not an ideal situation for a starter snake.

3 weeks without food isn't panic stations yet (assuming it has eaten at some point in the past .... if it is two months old). I've had a hatchling go 3 months before it took it's first meal and it survived. It was pretty damn small by the time it did eventually start eating but it made it.

There is an excellent thread at the top of the problems/feeding area just now. I'm guessing you've already read it?

Good luck and keep us posted. :)
