6-7 year old female refuses food

One of my female cornsnakes which is 6-7 years old ( about 700 g ) has refused food for about 4 weeks. I tried a mouse ( frozen ) once every week, but no luck. She is also unusually restless and crawls around even during the day. Never done this before !

2 of my males have also refused food last week and they are also restless...I am sure they are looking for a female so very normal. Never heard that the mating instinct could be a problem with females too....any idea ??

She could be about to drop a clutch of slugs (I take it that she hasn't been mated) or perhaps she's ovulating especially vigorously. One of mine does this every year but never lays anything. She gets lumpy, goes off her food and acts like she's about to lay. I give her a laying box and she settles in it for a couple of weeks. Then the lumps disappear and she goes back to normal.

I'd pop a laying box in with your lass, just in case.

Actually I tried a few times to breed her about a month ago, but she didn't let the male do his job ( I watched all the time and after I carefully checked the box for sperm fluid - nothing ). I also checked her belly and I couldn't feel any lumps / eggs. I already have a laying box in her viv.

Perhaps I just wait and see whether she will eat again in the next weeks. She looks very healthy and strong.

Thanks for your help !

PS. By the way my snakes name is Bitsy...lol

I have a couple virgin females doing this this year. One is a two year old and one is a three year old. The three year old did it last year. She swelled up until I could count egg bumps, but reabsorbed them.

Also- I have a virgin female who I was trying to breed since her first shed this year in January or February. She wouldn't mate, and I kept offering her the chance every 3-7 days, and finally on the ninth time she mated. I put the pair together again three days later and they mated instantly. Sometimes it just takes a while for the time to be right.
