hello im new to this site so if this is answered else where please guide me there.
I recently got a corn snake (an adult about 3 years old). I have a heater mat underneath half of the tank. Iv noticed that right under the mat the glass on the bottom of the terrarium heats up to about 90f and on hot days up to 95f. I realize the ideal temp max should be about 85-88. My question is will these temperatures my terrarium is getting in places harm the snake? thank you.

That is too hot. You should have a UTH that is 1/4 to 1/3 the size of the bottom of the tank, not half, and the UTH should be on a rheostat or thermostat. I wouldn't want a _max_ temp higher than 85-86.

Until you have some way to control the temperature of the heat pad like Nanci stated, increase the amount of bedding so that it is a couple inches deep over the pad. The snake will find the level it likes best. Another way is to raise the cage off the pad some distance to decrease the temp. The most important thing is to get a controller for the pad.

thanks. I bought a device to plug my heat mat into that keeps it at a set temperature that i choose. The problem is the stupid thing didnt come with a temperature gage on it so i can set it to an exact temperature. Now i just got set my thermometer on it and slowly adjust it till it is set to the right temp.
