a 'clear' alternative to Rubbermaid shoeboxes

Can you drill holes through them without cracking? I used a metal awl on my tuperware boxes and that worked fine. Those are pretty cages!

Wow. I'll have to pick me up some of those. Just one Question: How do you suffiently heat them without them melting?

It is a lot easier to use a soldering iron to melt holes in them instead of drilling. Drilling will cause cracking.

To heat them you should use haet tape with a controller (thermostat) to regulate the heat to aviod melting of the containers.

Sorry for digging up this old post. I remembered seeing the info about them here. DAND, I have a couple questions for ya.

First off...

You said the only thing that was the same was the phone number. I'm assuming you called them though and all the rest of the information is current that you posted?

I'm most interested in the small boxes at this point, wonder if they have those back in stock yet? Do you know off hand how many come in a case?

Any clue on shipping cost? I would have to believe that a case is decently heavy. Let alone five cases on the minimum order!

Thanks,
Quigs

The smaller ones come 12 per case the other two sizes come 6 per case. I have been shorted and the refused to send me out a replacement for the short count so I would order an extra case if you have an exact number you need for a rack. Also be sure to order an extra case of lids they break in shipping sometimes and they wont replace them either.
I believe my shipping charge for 5 cases was around $70 but it's been a while.
P. S. I know you didn't ask me but thought I might be abble to help a bit.

Thanks Jason!

Yeah, it did help. I went back to DAND's post to do the math and realized that the case quanities were on there, I just missed them.

5 cases of smalls = $190
shipping = $70

I'm looking at just under $5 bucks a piece! Maybe it's not worth it?! I can pick sterilte shoeboxes up all day long at the dollar store! In fact I found them someplace for 0.79 a piece!

Is there something that makes Phillips so special? I have never used them for snakes but am familiar with the product. Makes more sense to go with sterilites, huh?

Thanks,
Quigs

Quigs,

Sorry for the delay in response. Yes, the information is up tp date. By now they will hopefully have the small ones back in stock.

Lee's HerpHavens

Is there a reason nobody has mentioned Lee's HerpHavens and Reptile Ranches? When I shop around for the best price I could find them for just about the same price range as what you guys are talking about. I'm keeping my two babies in the large breeder size. It's about 18 X 12 X 7. Then, no holes to drill and it has a couple of handy-dandy doors on top. Just wondering how y'awl feel about them.

IguanaMama,

These containers were used for racks built a while ago. Chances are most who are looking into these containers are doing so they can use an already exsisting rack system, replacing old or broken containers.
