A couple feeder questions...

Okay so I'm getting a snake Sunday, and right on time, my mouse had babies yesterday. I checked in on them, and saw that one had sorta been ripped open some how, but just left there. My question is, is it alright to freeze that mouse and feed it to my snake even though its belly has a whole in it? (it's organs are all still inside) I'm guessing that it's probably alright, but I was just curious..

Also, when freezing pinkies, is it alright to have them in one bag in the freezer, like all together and touching? Or will they get stuck or something?

I'm not sure about the ripped pinky; I probably wouldn't do it, just in case.

As for freezing the other pinks, you can freeze them on a cookie sheet or something (like you would do with berries, if the space is available) so that they don't freeze together, or you can just toss them in the bag and freeze them as-is. Either works, and, even if you toss them in pre-freeze, chances are, they're going to get stuck together. If you vacuum pack your mice, you're probably best off freezing them in a regular ziploc or something (with as much air as possible pushed out of the bag) beforehand, so they don't get completely squished in the vacuum.

I euthanize my feeders in a CO2 chamber I made with PVC pipe. I then place them in a plastic bag and I vacuum pack them using one of the ten dollar vacs you can buy in any store. I have more than one snake to feed so I pack them in quantities of 25, 50 or 100. I find if I need just one or two I can usually pull them off with out too much trouble. I do not have room to put a cookie sheet in freezer, and I really like the extra shelf life I get by vacuum packing them.
