a good trick to switch your snakes to thawed

I've noticed this one over the last few years, and it has worked with corns, ball pythons, Colombian boa's, and just the other night, our Suriname redtailed boa. Snakes love to ambush prey, and if provided a hide that has a hole just big enough for them to crawl thru it becomes a favored place to "ambush" any tease fed mice/rats. They will lay with their nose just at the entrance, and wiggling a warm thawed rodent right in front of it almost always draws an ambush strike from a snake. Something to try for those working on switching over to f/t food

i take the snake put it in a brown paper bag and close the top and leave it in its cage

Thats a cool trick..I switched my boa over by "blow drying" a f/t mouse until it was fluffy like a live one. Then i tied a piece of my hair around it and sorta made it..like a puppet..doing wut i have watched the live mice do. And when he struck it and sorta started to constrict it, i grabbed the legs and played "tug-o-war" for about a couple seconds just to make him think it was fighting. Now hes on just reg f/t.

I just thaw the mouse in hot water and give it to them. Usually I tease them a bit if they're slow to take it, but otherwise they've all taken them no problem. Even the rescued Burmese I took that had only fed on live mice and rats took f/t with little problem. She was a little surprised by the wet fur, but after dangling it again in front of her, she ate it right down..
