A question about size and feeding

Hey guys,

I had another question about age and size of my 5 month old okeetee corn. He is 5 months old like I said, and I got a pretty good measurement on him. He seems to be in the neighborhood of about 20 inches. I was just wondering...is that an average size for 5 months, or would that be considered above average? I'm trying to raise an exceptional snake here, so above average would always be good. I feed him 1 peach fuzzy every 6 days. I was wondering if that was enough or if he could handle more. The thing about the peach fuzzies is...they hardly ever make a bulge in my snake because they are long and slim, versus the pinkies which are short and fat. There is a slight bulge, but nothing like when he was smaller and I was feeding him pinkies.
Ive learned one thing about snake keeping...you can always tell if you have fed your snake too much because he will regurgitate (which has never happened to me yet), but you can't really tell if he might possibly want more or if he could handle more food. He always seems ready to eat, but I just wanna make sure that he is stuffed without being overstuffed.

Thanks for your advice, everybody!

"Gentlemen...we can rebuild him..." :p

Also, I have noticed that my snake is very long and slim. I hope thats normal, because every time I look in the books at corn snakes...they always seem to be very thick and bulky. I guess I was expecting him to be thicker than he is right now...to be more like a boa constrictor in terms of thickness. He doesn''t have any ribs showing or any folds of skin, but I just expected a thicker snake.

Hey

Corns are not ment to be anywhere near as wide as boas or pythons. Boas and Pythons are heavy constrictors and corns arnt.

I would say that your corn could handle a normal sized mouse fuzzie every week and in a month your corn could even handle 2 mouse fuzzies a week.

Cheers

Alex

oh yeah. I would say that your corn is a little over average in length for a corn of it age.
