A very annoyed snake

Hi there, my corn snake is now 4 months old and had what I would assume a normal behaviour of a snake. Kaa (named after the snake from The Jungle Book) would normally sleep all day and come out to look around at night, from six onwards, although now he has berried himself into his bedding for a few days, I thought I would leave him be as he might be starting to shed and tonight I checked up on him to see if he's okay, as I tried to pick him up he would run away, hiss/rattle and also tried to bite me.

I'm not sure what to do as this is my first time owning a snake.

I would say he is about to shed, (the process can take a while) or maybe your temperatures in the tank are not right. Are you regulating and monitoring the temps? An incorrect temp can make for a "Cranky Snake."

Otherwise, if the temps are ok, then he's probably trying to shed. You might try giving him a "Moist Hide Box" during this process. Especially if the humidity is dry. A lot of corn snakes like a Moist Hide while they are shedding.

Thank you. he shed a few days after! I don't get too worried now if he doesn't come out. (sorry for the late reply!)
