My caramel corn Rocky, when i was handling him today i noticed that his belly pattern has gone grey. Does this mean he is going to shed his general colour isn't as bright as it was but his eyes aren't cloudy blue ??
any help would be much appreciated thanks mark

when he is shedding u should leave him alone. Spray him alot to make sure the tank is moist. When his eyes are blue he can't see an will probably strike.
don't feed him until he looks normal again.. he made not have shed but as soon as he looks better feed him and then he will shed

Good chance if he's going into a shed cycle you missed the eyes going "blue".
There eyes clear up after a day or so but the skin seem dull. You didn't mention the age or lenght of snake,or how long you own him. So guess it a hatchling and a shed, Try keeping humidity to 40-50%. You can try to feed if it that time. Some will eat some may not it all depends on the snakes. One of mine is in a shed cycle and I plan on feed it tonight. And I haven't had a problem yet handling them .

Keep us posted.

I would agree with Lenny. 40-50% is just fine. I get this from my water bowl alone with out even misting. To much moisture can cause a rough shed too.

I ONLY mist when we have the santa ana winds (really dry, really hot winds) come through.

My babies eat through the blue. It's up to the snake's personality. :D

Shed cycle, as observed:

dull colour, belly clouding 4-5 days
eyes blue, belly less cloudy 2-3 days
eyes clear, belly cloudy once again 1-7 days
snake sheds, back to normal =)

This was calculed after watching Treasure's shed cycles carefully over the last year. (omitting his one 3.5 week long blue period)

I keep my vivs at 40% humidity during the shed cycle and offer a moist hide incase the snake chooses to be damper. I still offer food on a normal basis, and I still hold them on a normal basis. I have never had a snake strike at me when its eyes were blue. Hunter didn't miss a meal when he was in shed, Treasure is 50/50 seems to just depend on his mood.

what do you keep the humidity at normally?

usually when my snakes are in shed i spray them to keep the humidity up, and make a moist hide for them..
