acurite thermomter question

i just got an acurite thermometer from walmart and i was checking the temps of my uth and on the therm it says 83 deg "IN" and 93 deg "OUT". so which is the actual surface temp of the uth? the manual in no way clarifies. any help would be appreciated.

The "IN" reading is the temperature at the thermometer unit itself, the "OUT" reading is the temperature at the thermometer probe. So, it depends where you had the main body of the thermometer, and where you had the probe of the thermometer.

Thank you so much for asking this!!! I actually got my Acurite thermostat yesterday & I was just as confused -- maybe I'll write to the company & ask if they could include that on their itty-bitty sheet of directions...:p

No worries, those bits of machinery can cause anyone to go slightly language-deficient! Personally I find it highly amusing that they spell accurate 'Acurite'. :)

You'll confuse them if you do. You must realize that their intention is for the unit to be placed in your house and the wire ran out through a window so the probe can be attached to the outside of your house.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. You're placing the probe outside, so that must be the outside temperature, right? :grin01:

Hmm...then maybe if the little directions said that the "In" is the ambient temp & the "Out" states the probe's temp, no matter where/how the set-up is, then that might eliminate some confusion? :shrugs:

Well, it would've for me...:p

(I know what you mean, Ickle Moose...I had to double-check the monitor itself to make sure that I was misspelling "accurate" correctly :p)

where in walmart did you get a thermometer with a probe? i visited my walmart today and could not find any thermometer with a probe.. the staff there had no idea either :( lol... also does it matter if it has 1 probe or two?
