Adult size?

What is adult weight in grams for a corn snake?
I'm just curious. Cheesecake is almost 3 if I remember right, or maybe 2...:/ but she weighs 295 grams. How far does she have to go? What is breeding size for a female corn?
Thanks,
Shellie
:)

Good guidelines when you're starting out as a breeder is that females be 300g, 3 feet long and 3 years old, and that the weight should be healthy toned muscle rather than fat or flab.

These are only guidelines and can be varied depending on the individual Corn and the experience of the owner. However they're a good safe starting point for the snake as you gain that experience.

Oh wow! I'm not sure if she's 3 feet, I'll have to measure her sometime--but yes, she is ALL muscle it looks like! I can see the muscle when she moves! it's crazy!
Really, 300g is all??? I saw my friend's corns when he was breeding--they were HUGE, much bigger than my Cheesecake! They were about 2 inches or so in circumference I think. Can they really safely breed at that small of a weight?
I'm not doubting your guideline but rather shocked--I'm used to ball pythons who can't breed until they're 1,500 grams, LOLOLOL, fatty piggies! It seems incredible!
:D

And is it necessary to brumate/hibernate the corns or can you just introduce the pair right off the bat? I thought I remembered reading this on here before but in all the excitement of my babies growing big my memory has been shot. I can't believe my little babies are almost all adults now! :(

BPs are physically bulky compared to Corns (even 1000g would be massive for a Corn)and your friend's Corns sound super-sized - there's no way a standard-sized adult Corn is usually 2 inches around. Big isn't necessarily healthy.

There's no real size/age limit on males. If they can hook-up then they can breed, but younger ones are likely to be less fertile until they hit sexual maturity around 3 years old. I like the male and female to be comparable sizes, so that if things get rough neither has a chance of getting hurt by the other. That's just my preference though. I've certainly heard of a 10 month old male siring a fertile clutch.

I've never brumated and have bred successfully for years. I like to introduce them after the female's first shed in the spring, as they give off more of the "come and get it" pheramines when freshly-shed! Just helps get the male in the mood for lurrve.
