After Reading Tceas's thoughts i decided to

lol

:D

On the contrary, I agree with a lot of the points for separate housing but I do feel that the mental wellbeing of the corn snake on an individual basis should not be so easily dismissed simply because it does not fit with "tried and tested" methods of husbandry. Food for thought

see this is a hood thread for posting opinions as of now im getting alot of good EXTRA info and peoples opinions exactly what i want and Yeas i have ONLY 7 snakes and i Feel i know what they are trying to say same as my dog....

This is a good :argue: thread

Good Evening All,
I want to preface my responce to the above thread. I am concerned, but wondering, (not taking any sides here).

For instance, my local pet store, houses a "pile" of Corns" together, (it's disgusting, a 10 gallon tank, all shapes and sizes, it's half full). My point, remember, I'm new at this, but some, apparentlly "do" and "will" get along.

I personally think the place should be closed down. For once PETA is looking in the wrong direction. I.E. Looking after the "rodent's rights".

I hope my post dont make me too many enemas

sorry but LMFAO!!!!! :D no offence, maybe it's my, erm, 'toilet' humour!

As for the whole topic, can I just point out that it is a FACT that corns don't have advanced emotions because they don't have the part of brain to deal with them. They only have basic, instinctive emotions which are controlled by their brainstem. They do not have emotions that you would assosciate with higher organisms such as cats, dogs or even rats.

Also, people have said there is no proof that corns don't get along. Every book I have read, and every 'respected' breeder I know of do not advocate housing together no matter what. If you still want to look at it as an unanswered question then you still shouldn't keep them together until you know whether it is ok or not. I just don't understand why you would want to keep snakes together when there is that risk. If you can afford it etc then why bother risking your pets health?

" now someone will post here saying all the bad thing of having them together or whatever but i dont care i will do what i think my snakes like!!! "

Wow you can talk to your snakes?

Let me guess, they sit together all the time so they must love each other.

You know what guys, ignore my posts. Don't even respond. I can't be bothered explaining anthropomorphizing over again, nor can I bear to point out FACTS that most people who house together seem to ignore. So seriously. Just disregard it. you will anyways.

TBH i find this quite insulting!!

If everything was "cut and dried" about snakekeeping there would be no need for this forum. At the end of the day , Im sure we all do what we think is best for our snakes.

I currently keep my 2 corns seperate and I can understand the reasons why this is considered a good thing. But it doesnt mean that I always will do. There are things that I dont agree with , such as keeping tens of snakes in rubbermaid type tubs all their lives like battery chickens. Personally , I dont think thats good at all , but at the end of the day thats MY opinion , and Im not going to say its wrong and try to "force" my opinion on anybody else

Surely its all you can ask to hope people learn and read all they can and make a balanced decision based on it. Whatever people do , there are others that will disagree. It doesnt nessessarily make it wrong. When all is said and done , we all keep snakes for our own benefit otherwise there wouldnt be any in captivity.

Most pet stores are not set up to house individually. The idea is that it's only temporary. In some cases I'm sure the animals get through it just fine. But I have read many stories here about animals from pet stores that are not eating and or sick. Stress is a major reason for failure to eat and for illness.

The survival instinct is a strong one and they will do what's necessary to survive. That doesn't mean it's good for them. So what might seem as "getting along" is really just getting by.

I am "old school" and I like the "tried and tested" methods of husbandry. They work for me and my animals :D

I know, I didn't mean to be nasty or anything, it just brightened my gloomy Thursday :D
