I'm new to this forum, and I recently, as in yesterday, acquired a red and orange corn snake. I bought him from a pet store, because none of the rescues in my area had any snakes for adoption, and he/she is pretty little. How old are they when they are generally put on sale at pet stores?
Also, does anyone know what kinds of live plants can be safely put into a corn snake habitat? I think it would add a unique touch in his/her 29 gallon habitat, but I don't want anything potentially dangerous in there.
Another question, is it safe to take wood and supplies from outside and put them in a habitat, or is there a treating process to go through to sterilize them and make sure they won't cause any harm to my snake?
I think I know how to tell if he/she is male or female, I'm just unsure of how old he/she has to be for the estimation to actually be accurate.
I'm sorry for all the questions, I am a new snake owner, and would like to talk to experienced snake owners who know specifically about corn snakes.
Thanks!
