Are you using a heating rock? If you are I definitely suggest removing it hun. They can get way to hot.

I know better than to use a heat rock. So far I have heat lamps and home-made cardboard shelters. I'm only looking for a different option where it doesn't cut my wallet open.

Just making sure hun. Not to be rude though but if your worried about money I'm not sure you should be concerned about having pets right now. It's hard to enjoy them, or be prepared for medical costs if simple things like proper heating and housing is hard for you.

Medical costs are of no concern but my own, and that is barely. I didn't even say about housing, I only asked questions about what is acceptable, and I'm after new heating methods.

I don't know if you have dollar stores where you live, but at the dollar tree you can get a plastic shoe box perfect for a baby corn. They even have some a bit bigger than the standard plastic shoe box size. After getting the container the only thing to worry about is heating it. But depending on the warmth of your room then you may not need a heat source right away. In the summer here I actually turn my heat matts off because it gets so hot in my house and the snakes never use them any way (though they do in the winter).

I know all too well the limited space. I'm 25 but still live with my parents because I have Aspergers and it's really hard to find a job and keep it. My last job went out of business so I'm back at home. Anyway my room is tiny. It's very crowded with my snake tanks but I make due. The little shoe boxes really can fit anywhere, even sit it on top of your other snakes tank as suggested. Right now I have a 10 gallon shoved in my book case. But I have lots of places I can shove a little plastic shoe box lol. My desk has two little shelves that I could fit 2 on each shelf. If you have nothing to sit it on you could put it on the floor or even under your bed. They are nocturnal and don't need light.

Wow o.o I bought a plastic ccontainer and put it on my computer desk. I have 2 very nosey dogs so I barely keep anything alive in their reach, or I might not find them in the morning, or they escaped thanks to the dogs -_- sillies are never on my side.

I was giving you suggestions. Not being mean. How was I supposed to know you have dogs or what their behavior is?

Just wanted to say thank you to all the sound advice on here. I am considering breeding next year and am filing though the forums for advice.

This is really helpful. I will probably be messaging some of you for alil more information if this forum has a PM system.

Anyway Back into the forums I go! WEEEEEEE

With general questions it's probably best to ask on the board. You'll soon find that for every Corny question, there are half a dozen potential answers! What works for one person might not work for another, so it's always good to get a range of opinions and advice.

Plus some of us don't go into the PM system that regularly. Certainly in my case, there's more chance I'll reply to a board post.

Also, the board is a kind of collective knowledge pool of Corn keeping/breeding, which is building up all the time. The more questions we have here, the more info there is for other people to read and consider.

But welcome and - fire away!
