Aggression

I got Prisa 5/10, over a month ago, and just now he's starting to show aggression. He keeps striking at me and I'm just trying to spot-clean his tank lol. I also put in a new plant (he hasn't had any in his tank until today). I took him out using a clothes hanger as a hook (I usually just take him out by hand) and put him in his RUB until I see him calm down.

I'll post a picture of him being in striking mode, but the point of this thread is: why now? He's never been aggressive as far as I've had him, and the breeder I bought him from says he's never struck him either. I'm trying to accomodate him and his needs temperature-wise and I feed him every week and change his water daily and handle him at least twice a week for 10 minutes at a time. Is he just moody? Or what do you think is going on? All he does is hide under a log all day, I never see him out and about ever.

Side-note: in looking at the Ians Vivarium site, I've discovered that he may be a dilute snow motley: http://iansvivarium.com/morphs/spec..._motley/?sid=50a4477cb73df5628941a3f0e1fd7f5d

opinions?

Maybe try double checking your temperatures with a second digital thermometer? I have heard that the temps being too high make corns grumpy.

I'd just go ahead and pick him up. He'll learn that him being scary will keep you away. Corn bites don't hurt too bad so don't be afraid!

Thank you for the advice :) I turned off the lamp and moved the heater pad underneath and I came home from work and he was exploring :)

Good to hear!
Is your heat pad regulated by a thermostat? If not, it is likely still a bit too toasty for him. I'm glad that he is out exploring though, if you were using a light, it is very possible that it was irritating his eyes. Albino morphs have more sensitive eyes than those with darker eyes, just an interesting note.

Just a thought... but when is he due for his next shed?? He doesn't look blue in the pic but mine get quite bad tempered when they're about to shed, then settle down again.

He could be up to shed. He still is amazingly bright yellow. He has not been aggressive since I removed the lamp, added the plant, and moved the heating pad. Hopefully he feeds well today, as it's feeding time! He gets so hungry I'm feedin two fuzzies. He's so big for 6 months old. I'll weigh him and measure him again and post that here for ya all :)

Well thats good news then. It's amazing what a little bit of security can do for a snake's temperament.
