Alluminum Foil on bottom

Dresden

New member
Hi everyone, as this post will illustrate I am a noob as green as they come, and lazy, but I had a idea. Yes the light bulb came on.

What do you guy's think of laying alluminum foil on bottom of aquarium, heat probes etc would be below it and I would of course tape all the sharp edges down with electric tape and fold them in and put aspen on top of it.

Would this not help with spreading heat in the aquarium when using a UTH on the warm side? and if there is a mess just remove the foil and replace? This way the bottom of the aquarium wouldn't get stains and have to be disinfected as often etc.

Any feedback appreciated... :)

Actually the heat might not get to the top as alluminum foil is supposed to keep food warm.. on the inside. I don't thing it's a good idea also.

I won't comment on the foil, but the tape inside of the tank is a very bad idea. Please don't think the snakes won't crawl under the foil either as they will burrow wherever they can, even the carpet people keep in viv. Spot cleaning once or twice a week is very easy. JMHO susan

As long as there is a warm enough side (about 30C or 85F), I don't think it's necessary to "spread the heat around." The temperature gradient will give the snake a chance to thermoregulate.
