amel stripe x anery stripe

Rachel

Vet nurse in training!
*sigh*
This isn't good, I have ONE more exam to go and guess what...it's genetics and I can't even figure this one out! I think I'm studying too hard (yeah right) and am making things more complicated than they are.

So if I get an anery stripe male to breed with my amel stripe female, what would I get? Is there a single gene for stripes?

The way I was doing it (and don't laugh) is that and anery would be rrBB (r being recessive red, R dominant red, b recessive black and so on) and an amel RRbb. (this is assuming no hets) Now would I make it rrBBSS (for stripe) x RRbbSS? So in other words I'd end up with normal stripes het amel/anery?? RrBbSS?? This may sound really dumb (and for some reason Serps predictor wont download on my comp) but hey, we all need to learn, right (me more than others....and to think I have a BSc, sheesh!)

For some reason, I remember from somehwhere that stripe is like a hidden gene so my equation of rrBBSS etc wouldn't be right.
Please help!!

Ahhh that's where I was getting confused! Got it now, cheers. Only prob is I just got a quote of £95 plus £15 shipping for an anery stripe female. I'd rather get a male, and I reckon a male would be cheaper but what can you do?

I did zoology which entails herpetology (some places make this more part of the course than others). You need to have your basic GCSE's (or whatever it is now) plus biology, chemistry and maths or physics. Then highers or A levels (or whatever they are called now...god I'm old) in which you must have Biology, chemistry, maths and english. You don't have to do physics but you'll have to do it at uni in first year if you don't. I did english, maths, chem, bio, physics and french at higher and all of them plus history and art at GCSE and got an unconditional based on my GCSE results. I think they ask for 2 B's and a C or an A and 2 B's. I can't remember now. I did my degree at Aberdeen Uni but they do zoology all over the UK. Go search some of the uni's webpages and it'll tell you under 'courses' if they do zoology. Good luck, it's a brilliant course!

Ohh that's me out I COULDN't sit through another 2years of Biology these 5 have nearly killed me and yeah they're GCSE's and A Levels lol

Most things that are sciencey, animaly related at uni will require you to do biology. It's not that bad! It chemistry that I hated but that was only cause I didn't like my teacher (I enjoyed it at uni though and did really well, go figure  )

lol i just don't like doin practicals like i RESENT them whereas everybody else is like yeey practical I'd rather sit and write it all - now THAT I can do hahaha

Rachel

Ps. am i right in thinkin your uni chem teacher was lsightly better with your go figure statement?;)

Well we had a few teachers, one was cool and the other (a hippie lady) was a bit 'wierd' kinda ditzy but she treated us like adults. I think that was the key for me, I hated being told off all the time for not knowing the periodic table inside out and setting fire (accidentally!) to the 6th form bench. Oops! Seriously though, all my chem teachers I had a school level were awful. It was like it was a pre requisite for them to be total asses!

Enough ranting :p

At uni, they explained things so they make sense. No 'just because' and they treated you like adults.

lmao i feel ya last yr i had 1 that tells u his adventures with a boy and a lmap post (that sounds so very wrong) and he talked ot his computer now we have a sth african (i dont hava prob w/ sth africans) with such a STRONG accent no1 understnads anythin lol same for biology lmao
