An amel going "blue"

Droptines

I know that when snakes are getting close to a shedding they get the "blue eyed" look.My question is,,with its really pink eyes, how will I notice a bluing to them.I was holding my snake tonight and niticed he has taken on a dull,or "cloudy" look to his skin.Is he just dry skinned,or is this a sign to a shedding ?.

With my snow, I really can't tell except right before a shed her neck skin looks a little wrinkled and it feels different, but the bright oranges on my reverse okeetee really change and dull. So even if the eyes don't change, amels do change their skin colour during the shed cycle.

Carlos (CARattler40) recently had a thread
showing "blue" and "post-shed" photos of his amel; I don't know if you've seen it, but you'll see a definite change like this, and then a "clearing up" of the eyes for a few days prior to the actual shed.

My experience has been that while the eyes clear up, the snake overall will maintain a dull (but not "cloudy") sheen over them.

Unless your humidity levels are egregiously low over a period of time prior to a shed cycle (10-to-20% humidity, for example), most sheds come out just fine.

That's the beauty of corns - they're a very forgiving snake to keep.

jazz

Darn it, Jazz. The forum won't let me rep you for use of the word egregiously in a reply, and I so want to!

Yup, I really, really, really, really, really wanted to, but it still wouldn't let me! :grin01:

I do remember seeing that before and after picture of that amel.I kinda get the idea, but mine is so much smaller than that one,,I don't think the outword signs will be that outstanding.
I'll let you guys know.Thanks
