An Amel?

Hi, I'm new to the forum and just purchased my first corn a few weeks ago. :) The pet store I bought her from said she (i think a she anyway) was an Okeetee, but after seeing pics from others I'm pretty sure she's an Amel. You can't see it in the pic, but her eyes are ruby red. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks for the replies... she's been great so far, already has me thinking about getting another

Welcome to my world!!
I started out compromising with the hubby and keeping one snake in my office. Now there are two and I'm trying to figure out how to convince him to let me build a snake room in the basement  So far, no dice... :sidestep: But I haven't finished bargaining yet.

Just build all the shelves and set everything up. That way, when you ask him for more snakes, you can tell him that the housing is already taken care of. :grin01:

I had a couple snakes growing up. Had a dry spell for a couple of years. Bought a Cal. King in Dec 2004. Now I have 17 snakes and 3 lizards (and growing) and I am trying to buy a pet store. Reptiles are like crack... but more addictive. Pretty Amel by the way.

Ohhh...I just might use this one :grin01:

I know what you're talking about.. In February, I got my first two corns.. now I have 4 corns and a Ball Python (plus a Bearded Dragon), and I work at a reptile park :)
Planning on getting one or two new corns in august... Somehow, 4's just not enough! LoL :crazy02:

Well, I started out with 1. Thought he looked a little lonely, so I got a second. They mated and gave me eggs, and I kept the only one that hatched out, so I ended up with 3. Then I got another female and ended up with 4. Found a Male Anery at PetCo and got him, that is 4. And, this year, I aquired 8 more corns, and 3 Royals. So, all in all, by the end of the year, I will have 14 corns, 3 Ball Pythons, 1 bearded dragon. And, those numbers don't include any of the keepers from the 19 eggs that should be hatching in a few weeks.

Nice amel Glotto11. That's how I started, 1 amel......then one day.......

I came home from work every day for about 3 months and asked myself, "Is today the day that I tell, alright ask, my wife what I want to do?" Each day the answer was :argue: "aaah, nope". Then one day, she was in an exceptionally good mood and loved having me around the house because I was soooo helpful (hint :dgrin: hint) and BAM, I laid it on her. Next month, I'll have my pair of breeders for next spring and a pair of 05's for a future project. Now the challenge will be how to get her to let me keep some of the babies!!

Patience and Determination Daisy, Patience & Determination!!! ;)

She's adopted the Amel as her own, by the way...
