Hi!
My name is Stacey and I am the brand new owner of my very first snake-and/or reptile for that matter--a young sunglow corn I've named Helios. I acquired my fascination with snakes thanks to a college roommate's ball python, whose gentle nature helped me overcome my fears.
I've set Helios up in an 80 gallon tank with repti-bark, several live plants (all non-toxic), climbing driftwood branch, water pool, and several heat/glow lamps on a timer. My boyfriend and I have a household of animals, -2 cats, plus 3 aquariums full of goodness knows how many fish and have entertained the idea of possibly having a breeding pair of corns in the future.
I'm excited to join this forum, also a first, and can't to learn all that I can!

80 gallon!!!:eek1: Wow, you'll need to set him up with his own zip code.:grin01:
How young is young? If he's a hatchling, you could block off 2/3rd of it till he gets bigger. It'll save you a whole lot of time looking for poop.

You will need a boat load of hides for him in a set up that big. Hopefully you've read up on husbandry and care to help you set up his viv.

Welcome to the forums!:wavey:

Husbandry

I researched alot before I purchased, and have one artificial log hide, but Helios seems to prefer hiding underneath or in the 3 larger, live plants scattered throughout the tank. I didn't actually buy the 80 gallon for him, it was the only unoccupied tank I already had at home.

The guy at the pet shop described him as a teenager, he's just a little over 2 feet, and about the thickness of a penny. His first feed was successful--I was apprehensive because he had only ever been fed live, and I tried frozen.

Here's a few pic's--
