I am considering purchasing one of these racks, and was wondering if someone who owns one could answer a quick question for me. I noticed the 15qt tubs are slightly shorter than the 32qt tubs. Since the rack was designed to hold both sizes, does the gap left atop the 15qt pose a problem with hatchlings. I've seen my RO fit into some pretty small spaces and really would like to avoid any snake/apartment adventures :eek1: . Thanks in advance.

The 1754 and 1756 tubs the rack is designed for are both the exact same height. there is no significant gap.

I've only found those exact model sterilite tubs at Target, and unfortunately they are the more expensive sterilite 32 and 15 qt tubs. (6.99 and 3.99 regular price)

It's a good rack though, especially at the price. I'm waiting on my 2nd to get here hopefully in the next few days. I believe its 4 weeks today since I ordered it, so I hope they ship it soon if they haven't already.

I have one of these racks, and I had no issues with my hatchings in the 15qt tubs. The gap is a tiny bit bigger, but it wasn't big enough for them to escape. I worried about the same thing when I got mine, but I haven't had any problems.

As for purchasing the tubs, Target seems to have these on sale once in a while, and thats the best time to buy them. I bought five 32qt tubs for 3.99 and two 15qt tubs for 1.99. And they are very nice, clear, and durable. I think they are worth the extra cost.

I just wanted to add that you are going to really like this rack, I love mine and I wouldn't think twice about getting another.

Just a suggestion

It would not hurt to put sheets of newspaper/butcher paper/poster/ under or over the tub to ensure as small a gap as possible. One poster said his hatchling escaped through a 1/4" hole. You are going to put holes (ONE-EIGHTH INCH!!) in the tubs for circulation anyway so as small a gap at the top would be a lot easier than trying to find a lost hatchling.
