Any treats to feed besides birds?

This is one thing I wish people would stop doing is Humanizing their snakes. They do not care and will eat the same food every week. Some snakes will have a preference on some food items as stated. I have a gopher who preferres Mice over Rats but that is about it. My corns relish and eat their mice right on up.

We humanizing our pets to make us feel better. It's for our mental comfort and not our pets. Our snakes, both corns and king, eat what we give them but my husband and I, along with others, probably feel better about "owning" animals when we treat them as "human 'children' ".

Animals that humans own; dogs, snakes, fish, birds; are really like captive slaves. They do not have a free life because they live in what we put them in, they eat what we give them and, in some cases, die when we decided they should die either through lack of care or "mercy deaths". Granted, they don't do slave labor but in the broadest sense of the word - they are slaves. In truth, no one living thing has the right to control, constrict, or dictate another living thing's actions or live. But by owning pets, that is exactly what we do. It makes us feel better about what we are doing if we ascribe human traits to our pets. When I say 'we' I mean my husband and I but if anyone else feels the same way, they can second me.

The term is anthropormorphising :) , assigning human traits to animals or objects. There are other reasons for varying the snake's diet, other than thinking it is "bored". There may be trace elements missing in the diet if only fed one item, especially if only fed from one supplier. Offering different food items every so often will minimize the risk of a vitamin or element deficiency.

o_O Uh no reason to get mad at me I was just trying to vary my pets diet. As in the wild they would NOT be eatting the same thing every day.

Jeez....kinda makes me feel bad now thanks 9_9

I'm all for being responsible pet owners, but it's this PETA philosophy that is trying to stop the reptile hobby.

And please, DO NOT EVER compare pets to human slaves.
