anyone change light schedules to yours?

pwargcm

wrong way
so, i am running out of time lately to have some fun with a couple of my legged friends. so i was wondering if i slowy adjusted my timers if i could set my beardies on a schedule so that i would have more time to hang out with them after work without having to take them out in the dark which i rarely do.

i go to work at 7, and theyre lights come on at 6:30 so that i can go down and give them theyre greens and maybe sneak in a roach or some worms if theyre awake enough to eat yet. then i get outta work at 6 and am home by 6:20. i just made their lights stay on util 7:30 because i like to be able to hang out with them for any time and feed them more. but sometimes theyre already loungin' about to go to sleep and dont care to eat too much. i get thursdays off, and of course sundays, but i like to feed atleast 3 bigger meals a week. so its not happening lately with a couple small meals a day, and a couple bigger ones on my day off.

so im wondering if i could just put theyre time to click on at 7:30 and off at 8:30, then adjust for cool down when they start showing signs.

thanks for any opinions or help.

I think you can get away with it. It depends on your dragon; some will go to sleep by the sun no matter how many lights you have on, but I think you can extend their bedtime out a little by keeping them very well-lit. With Isabel it seems that the main lights in her viv going out signal her to stop activity and lay down and close her eyes, but if I have a bright fluorescent room light and the fluorescent lights on in her viv, I can keep her up for a bit longer, an hour maybe. I think it is the heat going off, and the very bright basking light, that is her signal to sleep.

thanks. yeah im gonna start them slowly changing their schedules and see how they cope. im sure theyll be fine. at least i get 2 full days a week i can hang out with them. and theyre getting more mature now that theyre bobbing and waving at eachother. so the lil walk abouts they had out together before will not be happening as i dont want any babies yet. not that i think it could happen that fast. but its awesome to watch them communicate together. and funny to watch him beat the heck out of his cage furniture with his head when he sees her.
