Anyone Have Some Fun Corn Facts?

This Tuesday, I'm giving a speech in my Ag class about how snakes are essential for balancing ecology. The best part is that my teacher said I could bring in my corn! I do have experience with presenting animals, and I'm planning on covering the basics like size, diet, natural habitat, etc., but I was wondering if anyone has interesting facts I could share with my class. Anything is great, thanks everyone! :)

Well you can talk about the possible origins of the name 'corn snake' - either for the corn-like pattern on them or the fact that they were often found in corn silos (hunting the mice that eat the corn).

I also often like to tell people that corn snakes only have one functional lung. Lots of non-snake people are also often surprised to find out that corn snakes will rattle their tail like a rattlesnake.

Those are great thank you! I've never heard about the one lung! And that link is great daddio207!
