AP rack gap question

Katherine
Hey guys,

I just put together my rack from AP (a 4 shelf CB70 Iris model). Once I loaded up the tubs, I noticed there's a little gap between the top of the tub and the shelf. This is my first rack, so I'm not sure if this is something I should be concerned about. I can always get some shims and wedge the front into place.

For frame of reference, the two snakes going in there right now are at 160 and 230 grams.

The rack is in a secure room, so I'm not too opposed to popping them in there and answering my own question, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

What do you all think?

Yes the gap is suppose to be there so you do not have to put holes in the tubs. The gap is for air movement. That rack is for adult corns, kings, milk snakes that are to big to escape threw the gap. I have an older model then that one.

Love the Fatman

I do, but not for cornsnakes that are in the weanling-eating range. So- over 100 grams? The two that made me nervous were the Boot Keys who were 66 and 76 grams when they arrived- but _really_ long and thin. I cut a piece of cardboard that is just slightly smaller than the shelf it sits on. It will slide right out with the bin- it's no trouble to deal with at all.

I'll probably never recover from the shock of having Number One escape out of the "escape-proof" Reptile Basics rack...(Found in less than 30 minutes).

The Boot Keys are up over 110 grams now, I'm sure it's safe to remove their cardboards. In a few more months!!

Thanks guys! I feel much better after having put them in and seeing for myself how they size up against the gap.
