are snakes not as livly when they are coming into shed?

They usually slow down before a shed. Mine will loaf around for more than a week sometimes. I wouldn't worry about it.

I think young ones, since they shed more frequently take it more in stride, but they do slow down and can become completely inactive for a few days. My adult thoroughly hates being in shed, and turns into a coiled up garden hose for 2 weeks. I have to check a few times to make sure he's still with us. He shed 3 mornings ago, ate a small mouse that night and hasn't stopped moving around since, lump and all.

Yea generally they literally become "bumps on a log" or under a log depending on how your snake manuevers around hehe. But when it gets ready to actuallys hed (day of) it cruises through whatever substrate you have or rubs up againbst anything thats gonna help pull that skin off. Generally the glass walls of the viv provide good structure for this as their skin kind of just slides against it and slowly peels down their body.

I normally notice that mine will start nudging its nose against the glass at first when its ready or just go straight down under the substrate to begin the process.

my friend would say "just flick his head a little" *makes little flicking motion with his fingers*

I know he's kidding, but I'm worried one of these days someone is going walk by and believe him. He always sounds so serious when he says it.
