Hello to you all
First of all I would just like to say that this forum has been a great help to me in preparing for my first corn snake. I am now in to my 30`s and after 12 years of nagging my partner she has finally given in, I might have to get married now, and I am now a proud owner of "Apollo" a 2 month old "Normal" Corn Snake. He/She is a little beauty I had gone to the dealer thinking I would probably come away with something other than the "normal" variety but after handling Apollo "It Just Seemed Right".

Anyway I am looking for a bit of advice on a couple of subjects

I got Apollo last Monday so i have had him?? 6 days he was due for his feed on Friday but I noticed on the Thursday he was a bit dull and when I looked at him on Friday his eyes were cloudy I decided not to feed him as the shed prosses had started. Today Sunday his eyes are clear, he is still very docile, should I just leave him alone or should i give him a bath or soak. I am not sure what to do as, from what i have read bathing at this stage can help shedding but I have only handled him a couple of times and havent intoduce him to water? I dont want to stress him to much as he is only just getting used to his enviroment and Me! Also should I just feed him staight after the shed or leave him a while.
Any advice on this would be much appreciated
I also have question/suggestion about a viv/hide structure but I`ll do a different thread for that since I have ranted a bit.

Congrats on your new snake.
Normals are hard to beat.
They will usually shed within a week of re-gaining their color.
Mine average four days.
As long as you have a water bowl large enough for your snake to get into, he should be fine.
Just give him a few days to shed and your questions will be answered.
If he has a complete shed then you know your conditions are good. If he has an incomplete shed then you will know to either raise the humidity or add a moist hide box for the next shed.
Either way I would go ahead and wait until after the shed to feed him.
He will be fine waiting a few more days.
(you can feed him immediately after his shed)

My snake shed very quickly actually..about 3 to 4 days total..
But when his/her feeding day came I thought well let's give it a try...He/She ate it...And about the bath thing. Mine hates water for some unknown reason. When I tried to give it a bath it just jumped out, freaking out, so I desided not to try that anymore. But I did spray it with some water.(nice temp. not too hot, not too cold). That worked well. What I noticed was right before he/she shed, he/she pooped alot out. Is that common? I don't know:confused: ....
 
I have noticed that all my corns poop when they shed. If I see a skin in the cage, I always to know to look for the poop to clean it up too.

He`s Shed

Thanks to all who replied.

Apollo and I have just finished our first shedding together 1/2 an hour ago Phew!!! he seemed to be a bit dry and after an hour he was still at it with not that much progress so I put him in box with some damp paper towels for 15 mins, info from this forum, put him back in his viv (he didnt bother about being handled) went and made a coffee and missed most of the action Really Quick!! He shed in 3 pieces 30mm head 300mm body & 20mm of the tail tip. Everything accounted for. :D

As you suggested Jimmy(thanks) I did have moist boxes 1 at each end. I think he just had`nt explored and settled in enough!
I`ve just handled him for 15 mins with no probs, FANTASTIC, and now I`m about to feed him for the first time, wish me luck.

I would say that you have things just right for him.

Oh by the way....I know it will happen to you like it has to everyone else, so I will ask in advance. What kind of corn will you be getting next...LOL
I know you will...It is just too hard to stop at one.
