Thanks Tavia, I'm still hoping for a miracle, that somehow Avatre DID manage to escape in my apartment and will turn up and I'll have two snakes, but I know how unlikely it is under the circumstances. I'm going to try to focus now on giving little Kaa the best home, and make sure he never, EVER has a chance for an escape! Good thing is, I won't be travelling for a VERY long time, lol, so won't have to worry about moving him any time soon!
 
So sorry about you losing Avatre. I'm glad your friend encouraged you to get back on the horse and you already found a new scaly friend!
 
Thanks so much guys, and I am loving little Kaa, even if I wasn't planning on getting a new snake SO soon after losing Avatre. I just couldn't leave him there when I saw his living conditions and his poor little tail.

The good news is that I will be staying in contact with his old owner to send him updates on Kaa, so when he decides he's ready to try owning a snake again, I'll be able to send him here to get the RIGHT info! :)
 
Fed Kaa his first proper sized meal yesterday and he was so excited! He actually struck at it a little and constricted it! Avatre never constricted her food, so this was my first chance to see it, it was very cool!
 
Well, only took one good meal, and Kaa went into blue! Will update with new pics when he sheds, although I guess I should really start a new thread for him.
