Average length of Abbott cornys?

Actually, true Okeetees (what I refer to as Okeetees-Proper) are a locality 'normal' corn snake found in South Carolina. Just like Miami's, they do have differing characteristics then other 'normal' corn snakes--such as size. Although when bred with other normals, they do not produce hets/morphs, rather just 'normal' corns.

It is unfortunate that a lot of the Okeetees on the market today are not actually Okeetee, and may have little to no actual Okeetee blood--and should more properly be referred to as Okeetee-like or Look-Okeetee.

However, I think it disgraces true Okeetees by referring to them as 'normal', because they are a distinct population of corns with distinct characteristics.

Well said.

It is also my understanding (from my reading) that Abbott's Okeetee's were selectively bred Okeetee's and they got the name Abbott's Okeetee's because Lee Abbott was the guy who first succeeded in selectively breeding the Okeetee's for the thick black borders.

guys im not tryin to get off topic ;] but i was wondering, i am useing a glove when i take bert out of his tank now, because he'l randomly decide to strike me down, and i had to change his substrate, he did infact strike my glove, like i thought, lol should i keep useing it to get him out and for how long?

Keep using the glove as long as you need to in order to confidently handle him. Its not there to protect you, a hatchling can't hurt you. Its just some mental support :)

I'm not sure if he was the first, but he definitely perfected them. I've heard that his and Kathy's (Love line Okeetees) are derived from the same stock. Maybe Kathy or Lee can enlighten us more.
