Baby corn snake lost! Help please!

This will be long, I'm sorry!
So I just bought a baby corn, about 2-3 months from what I can gather from it's feeding chart. I was ecstatic as I'd waited so long to get him - I had him reserved for weeks and everything! that same night he managed to escape through a tiny gap in the glass sliding doors whilst I was downstairs, and my best guess is that he went down into the floorboards because the gaps between them are quite large. I completely upturned my room, but there was no sign of him at all and my gut said he'd gone under the boards, so I pulled some up.
There was no sign of him, but there are a few holes in places so I think the noise of me ripping the boards could have scared him into them? :/ I have no idea where the holes lead! It's Sunday evening now, haven't seen him, and he was supposed to feed today so I fear that the poor little thing will starve :nope: :nope: :nope: :nope: :nope:

last night, I left out a pinkie and a few hides around my room, and also put his heated tank on the floor with everything inside. he didn't show up, so I am determined to try harder tonight.

basically I have done all of the following to hopefully trap him soon! If you can think of anything more for me to do and can answer any of my questions, please help out;

. taken the bath panels off - a lot of websites said that they will make their way to the bathroom because it's warm and moist?
. I have left the floorboards off in my room, so it won't be hard for him to find his way back up.
. Under the floorboards, I have left a few hides and some fresh water, surrounded by talc to pick up his tracks.
. set up a water bowl in every room upstairs, also with talc around them
. talc in various doorways
. plastic bags/tissue paper to cover as much skirting as possible, so I have maximum chance of hearing him
. 2 bottle traps - one in my bedroom where he escaped - the other in the bathroom. Both contain fresh pinkies, which I plan to heat up and brain tonight.
. Several normal hides in case he's not hungry just yet.
. Left a few nice warm towels next to the radiator in my room for him to curl up in, as well as a few damp ones on the opposite side of my room.
. Water in the airing cupboard, where everyone keeps telling me he will end up, but I'm not too sure.
. Turned the heat off in the rest of the house except my bedroom, hoping it will draw him towards the heat.
. I will continuously check under fridge, behind the tv, washing machine etcetera.

How long do you think he will last if he has got into the floor/walls? Have any of yours got into there and survived?
Should I wait out tonight in the dark to see if I can see him, or will he know I'm there and stay away?
How long should I leave the pinkies out before throwing them away?



I'm aware that he will dehydrate quite quickly so I've left water everywhere! He really is a beauty so I would be devastated to lose him, I kind of just want moral support, or stories of lost babies with happy endings to give me hope. I will keep this updated!
 
yeah, seems like you have covered just about every angle, some ideas I have never even heard of!

I wish I could offer some better advice to this topic, But as I have yet to have a escape I'm sort useless, I do want to wish you good luck though! :(
 
Seems to me you have done a lot so far. Maybe spread flour along every edge of the house? Snakes tend to keep along the walls rather than in the open. Also this is risky but try some tape along the bottom edges of all your walls. Try coiling it so if the snake goes through it, it should get stuck.

I have had 2 escapes. Neither of which have I found, unfortunately.

I hope you find your little one! It is a real headache for the first few weeks trying to find them.

Will selotape or duct tape really hurt it, even if I press it on the carpet to minimize stick? I don't have any masking/painters tape
 
I can't quote what is recommended ATM but duct tape is too sticky and I don't know what that other tape is.

Masking tape would do fine and you don't really need to minimize how much it sticks, you want to catch it. Just kind of coil it and stick it in place along your walls. While your escape artist has still freshly escaped, it would be a good idea to try.
 
okay thanks, will have to buy some tomorrow then, scary to think I might be running out of time! sellotape is about halfway between the stickiness of masking tape and the stickiness of duct tape.
 
I read somewhere about using painter's tape?

I had an escapee, and he ended up being maybe a few feet away from his cage, but under my bed by the wall. He was gone for maybe 28-30 hours. It was so scary. :(
 
Alcotraz. He got out. I would look allover. He would land in this basket I kept under his turareum. The last time he was gone for 7 weeks. I found him in the basment. He has since been upgraded to a front opening turareum. Locked in. No more adventures for him now. And he was about up to a year and a half the last time he got out. So for all the looking you do. You need to sit and wait. You'll see it in some strange spot.
 
Know how you feel. I have one missing for 4 months now and I've stopped looking for her. I feel in my gut that she got outside through a hole in my floor (old cable hole). Though I do look underthings every now and again just to make sure.

Just keep looking and look places even if you think there is no way for a snake to be there. Just look anyway so you know you covered everywhere.
 
Thanks everybody, from what I've gathered it's best to just sit back and wait, if he wants to come back, he probably will.
It's night 3 and there's still no sign, but I've still got traps out and I just laid out the masking tape I bought today. Hoping for some luck.
 
I'm really sorry for what happened to you. We got our first snake a week ago, I can't even begin to imagine how you feel. Good luck! Fingers crossed you'll report some happy news any moment soon!
 
Good news :) not been found yet, but one of the pinkies I left out last night has been taken and there's some faint tracks in the talc! Seems that he's made his way out of the floor!
 
Fantastic news! Looks like you've got a little fighter there, I'm sure you'll get him into his cage in no time, and you'll have a great story to tell for years to come!

I'm not sure if anyone is actually still following this thread, but little Romeo was found today!
All I can say is that I was in the right place at the right time - I came downstairs and there he was, crossing the kitchen floor. Was missing for about a month, little fighter!
Got him in a nice warm (secure) house now, next to my two other corns. He's got a nice bulge from a big fat pinkie, took a VERY long drink, and apart from being quite skinny he seems fine!

Just when I had lost hope as well! It's really true that they turn up when you stop looking for them :)
